Conferences of the Director’s Office
The Director’s Office of the Scuola Normale every year offers its students, as well as all others interested, a series of meetings and debates with famous personalities from the national and international intellectual, scientific, political and literary worlds.
For the students of the Scuola this is a further opportunity of enrichment in addition to the institutional courses, a chance to hear about professional experiences (in the field of work and research) at the highest level, ranging from politics to economics, from scientific innovations to literary criticism, from arts to law, and from entertainment to current affairs.
This series of lectures started in 1981 under the title of Venerdì del Direttore and was re-named Incontri nel Bicentenario in 2010, on the occasion of the Bicentenary of the foundation of the Normale.
Its many guests include personalities such as Giuliano Amato, Giorgio Bassani, Franco Battiato, Roberto Benigni, Franco Bernabè, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, Carlo De Benedetti, Ferruccio De Bortoli, Renato Dulbecco, Umberto Eco, Francesco Rosi, Carlo Rubbia, Roberto Saviano, Gino Strada, Fabio Fazio, Carla Del Ponte and Sergio Pecorelli.
