RESEARCH INTERESTS/TOPIC OF PHD PROJECT
Sebastian currently works on a research project titled “Fiscal Policy in Italy after the Euro Crisis”. His research investigates the fiscal adjustment process in Italy after the country’s involvement in the European sovereign debt crisis. Sebastian’s work analyses the extent to which the spending and taxation measures adopted in Italy reflect the EU neoliberal policy agenda and what explains them. In this regard, the work explains the fiscal policy outcome as the result of radical external pressures from the financial markets and the EU institutions that strongly constrain the Italian governments’ fiscal policy strategies.
Research interests: Fiscal policy, Euro crisis, EU economic governance.
